New Town Centre Maps Installed to Help Visitor Experience

This week, visitors to town may have noticed our current map boards being refurbished and new boards being installed. These are all part of the deliverables within our current Destination Management Action Plan (2017-20), which directs how the Local Authority and the This Is Wrexham Tourism Partnership work together to make the County a better place to visit. Thanks to funding provided by the This Is Wrexham Partnership, local artist David Goodman has designed a new town cent

Wrexham's Tourist Information Centre to Relocate!

Good news!! To support the increase in town centre visitor numbers and Wrexham’s current Destination Management Action Plan, Wrexham County Borough Council has agreed to relocate the Tourist Information Centre from its current base in Queens Square later this year! The demand for visitor information and local food & drink has increased over the last few years as more day and staying visitors choose Wrexham County as a place to visit. In addition, a large part of the Local A

Food Review; Lewis' Farm Shop, Eyton

Winter is creeping on to us quickly with the dark nights, dark mornings and the hats and scarfs are on. The salads, the barbeques and dinners in the garden are a distant summer memory. This is why I decided to head over to one of North Wales’s award winning farm shop to get some hearty winter treats. I have to say, usually I approach farm shops with a spending limit, as some of them can be filled with mix match luxurious expensive products that don’t often have a purpose othe

10 Reasons NOT to Visit Wrexham County this Autumn...

Here in the This Is Wrexham HQ, the Friday afternoon chatter has focused solely on ideas for things to do at the weekend. Of course, none of us want to hang about in Wrexham - therefore we thought it wise to advise our readers of the places to avoid and just pretend that these don't exist in our home County. Can you bear to read on...? If you, do - just promise that you'll keep them quiet - don't instagram any of it, don't share it on Facebook and above all - don't use ANY h

FOOD REVIEW: The Lemon Tree, Wrexham

Following the recent launch of their Summer 2017 menu - we sent our food blogger Sarah along to the Lemon Tree Restaurant in Wrexham to check out the latest offerings by head chef Mike Peters. Here's what she thought... My partner and I chose to go for a rare quiet impromptu mid-week date night. We wanted somewhere we could truly relax in beautiful surroundings and an interesting choice of food. We chose the Lemon Tree, somewhere virtually on our doorstep in Wrexham town cen

FOOD REVIEW: The Royal Oak, Bangor on Dee

Nestled on the banks of the River Dee in the picturesque village of Bangor on Dee, Wrexham - I'd heard from many locals that the Royal Oak offers excellent quality of food. It also boasts this unique riverside setting with a warm and friendly welcome which all combine to make it a cut above the average village pub. This gastropub boasts a recent proud history too, famed in 2015 for winning the Wrexham Gourmet Burger Challenge and also Restaurant of the Year at the Wrexham T

FOOD REVIEW: The Mulberry Inn, Llwynmawr

I decided to visit the Mulberry Inn after seeing the success they had after winning the North-East Wales pie competition and being awarded the winner of the ‘Large Accommodation provider’ at the Wrexham tourism awards. The Mulberry Inn is situated in the quiet setting of Llwynmawr village in the beautiful Ceiriog Valley and is surrounded by beautiful Welsh countryside. I parked up around the back and took in the breath-taking scenery of the valleys as I walked around to the

    Plas Power Adventure Wrexham

When the Wrexham Tourism & Events team asked us along to photograph them scaling the heights of Plas Power's climbing wall on a Friday afternoon - we couldn't say no, especially as there was a chance to get harnessed up ourselves! Located in Southsea, just off Heritage Way leading up to Brymbo - Plas Power is run by the experienced local adventurer (and artist) Ian Walton with the help of talented young climber Leon Bowen. Plas Power is also a firm favourite of local schools
