Did somebody mention cake? The city of Wrexham and the surrounding area is blessed with some fantastic cafes, some quirky, some traditional, and some in places you wouldn’t expect! The one thing which holds true across the board, however, is the passion, care, and dedication each venue has for what they do. So with no more ado, come with me to find out more – you’re in for a treat!





Caffi Cyfle at Alyn Waters

Based in the beautiful country park of Alyn Waters, just outside Wrexham, Caffi Cyfle (Café of Opportunity) is set in delightful surroundings, and offers delicious, freshly cooked food in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. All ingredients are locally and sustainably sourced to ensure the best and freshest ingredients, and to support Welsh suppliers. Caffi Cyfle serves cooked breakfasts, hot food, snacks, and home-made cakes and pastries throughout the day, 7 days a week. In addition, Caffi Cyfle supports an in-house work and volunteer programme, providing opportunities and personal development for employees, trainees, and volunteers.



Caffi Wylfa

Located in Chirk, around 15 minutes or so from Wrexham city centre, Caffi Wylfa serves great food and artisan coffee. There is a lovely outside sitting area complete with parasols for shade, and an outside covered and heated terrace with water bowls and complimentary treats for four-legged guests. Working with local suppliers for the best and freshest ingredients, Caffi Wylfa’s menu offers a range of drinks, breakfasts, snacks, sandwiches, and hot meals, 7 days a week.




There is also a great selection of cakes and sweets, including Caffi Wylfa’s signature freshly baked scones and bara brith. Their popular Sunday roasts are available as dine-in, collect or delivery options, and a range of ‘heat to eat’ meals, and Thursday Specials, are also available for delivery or collection. If you have a particular event to celebrate, Caffi Wylfa can also bespoke create Celebration Cakes and Afternoon Teas to make your occasion even more special.


Toast Café & Deli

With an eye-catching logo and plant-themed decals decorating the front window, award-winning Toast Café looks fresh, bright, and welcoming. Run by Claire and Paul, Toast, as the name suggests, specialises in toasted sandwiches of all descriptions, including a large selection of vegetarian and vegan options, with a range of non-dairy milk for lactose intolerant and vegan guests.



A bilingual menu lists a range of hot dishes, from breakfast through to snacks and soup, a range of mouth-watering cakes and sweets, and a wide variety of hot drinks, including the intriguingly named Welsh Mist. Toast have worked closely with a local supplier to create their very own house-blend coffee, offering a smooth, full-bodied cup, and they also serve Welsh Brew breakfast and speciality teas. There is an order-ahead take away service, too. Open 5 days a week, Tuesday to Saturday.


Pontcysyllte Chapel Tea Room

Sympathetically restored and given a new lease of life, Bryn Seion Chapel has been reimagined as a contemporary café, juxtaposed with the fabric of the original old building. Though its history has been retained and original features saved, Pontcysyllte Chapel Tea Room has many modern touches, such as underfloor heating, restrooms and WiFi. The menu, created using ingredients from local suppliers, is served throughout the day, with a choice of breakfasts, light lunches, and sandwiches, through to sweets and cakes.



Trained baristas will prepare your coffee, using freshly roasted coffee beans. The café occasionally hosts speciality events such as Italian Cookery Nights and Christmas Fairs, and a Quiz Night every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month raises funds for Hope House Hospice (Tŷ Gobaith). Pontcysyllte Chapel Tea Room is open 7 days, and has a ramp for disabled access, and on-site parking.


Tea with Sheep

Based in Rossett, just 7 miles from Wrexham, Tea with Sheep offers a memorable day out with a difference! An Airbnb Experience, book ahead to enjoy Afternoon Tea in the company of “super friendly” and cheeky sheep, with the opportunity to brush, feed, and cuddle them, too.


In Springtime, you will have the chance to bottle feed baby lambs – cute! Delicious Afternoon Teas are served with a selection of savoury and sweet food, and a choice of tea, coffee, or home-made apple juice. All dietary requirements can be accommodated if advised at the time of booking. Your friendly and knowledgeable host, Joanna, will also show and describe the local wildlife around the farm, adding an extra dimension to your trip. Please note this attraction must be booked ahead.


The YAB Hub

Based on the circle in Eagles Meadow, Yellow and Blue (YaB group ltd) is a social enterprise, non profit project. Underpinning community projects including positive pathways, food provision and social isolation beating events and activities, the on-site cafe offers a range of breakfasts, lunches and even Sunday roasts! Spending at the YaB hub guarantees that your putting money back into good local causes and sustainable local projects that help others.

LOT 11 Cafe, Hill St


LOT 11 is a firm-favourite for brunch-loving visitors to Wrexham City Centre. Established back in late 2017 by local foodie Sarah Baker, the cafe specialises in brunch Australian style food served all day and freshly ground coffee available to sit in or takeaway. LOT 11 is a stunning venue frequently used for private parties and also goes offsite for catering corporate and private events.

The cafe is friendly and a great place to catch up with family and friends or dine solo. This is a place where the staff become your friends and a place where you will want to return again and again.


Bank Street Social


Brothers, Wrexham ambassadors and local entrepreneurs Andy & Phil Gallanders established Bank Street Social after deciding that big-chain coffee making wasn't quite for them. Wrexham is their home and bringing a modern meeting space, with great coffee and a welcoming atmosphere was a real ambition and over the space of several years, they have delivered! Featuring in the annual Indy coffee guide and always exploring new ideas for supporting hospitality in the City Centre, Bank Street Social is a must for all good coffee lovers visiting the city.
