Wrexham Hospitality Teams Sweep up the 2022 Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Awards!

This month, Tripadvisor announced it had recognised the highest ever number of Wrexham County based tourism businesses for the acclaimed 2022 Travellers Choice Awards!

The award celebrates businesses that have received great traveller reviews from visitors around the globe on Tripadvisor over the last 12 months. As challenging as the past year was, many Wrexham tourism businesses stood out by consistently delivering positive experiences to travellers.

As a tourism partnership, This Is Wrexham, working in partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council is striving to help local tourism operators as they continue to recover from the effects of the pandemic and at the current time, deal with the challenges facing the hospitality industry through increased overheads and many others. Despite these, the collective partnership and quality of service remains high in Wrexham and the prospects for the future impact of both local and overseas inward tourism into the County are positive.

Some of the local winners this year include independant accommodation operators such as the Hand at Llanarmon, the Lemon Tree, Rossett Hall Hotel and the West Arms hotel, all of whom are recognised outside of Wrexham as being hotels of choice for many heading to North Wales for staycations.

Owner of the Lemon Tree and This is Wrexham Chair, Sam Regan said;

"This is probably one of the strongest years for Travellers Choice Awards in Wrexham County and it's a real reflection of the quality that we offer locally. Although there are many challenges facing hospitality right now, the feeling as we head into 2023 amongst the trade is that we capitalise on the heightened interest in the County following the first series of the Wrexham AFC documentary and also with our programme of high quality events that is being developed for the new year. Our tourism offer is diverse with something for everyone and as a partnership, we look forward to shortly releasing our new Destination Management Plan alongside Wrexham County Borough Council which will provide a framework for further tourism growth over the coming years."

Our dining scene has rapidly developed over recent years and weathered the pandemic well, with new investments and refurbishments having been made at many establishments across the County. One operator who has come out of the pandemic stronger following a full refurbishment, a new emphasis on quality dining and showcasing local produce Alex Jones of the Bank Wine Bar & Bistro added;

"For our team at the Bank, we share a passion for working with local producers such as Pen-y-Lan pork and Stanley Jones Butchers (Rhos) and we're thrilled that the move to becoming more of a bistro with high quality small plates following the pandemic has worked so well. We couldn't be prouder with the response from both old and new visitors and our team strive each day to keep us number one for dining reviews on Tripadvisor for Wrexham!"

“Congratulations to the 2022 Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Winners,” said Kanika Soni, Chief Commercial Officer at Tripadvisor. “The Travellers’ Choice Awards recognise the best in tourism and hospitality, according to those who matter most: your guests. Ranking among the Travellers’ Choice winners is always tough — but never more so than this year as we emerge from the pandemic. Whether it's using new technology, implementing safety measures, or hiring outstanding staff, I’m impressed by the steps you've taken to meet travellers' new demands. You've adapted brilliantly in the face of adversity."
