Foodies get chance to savour local delights in unique surroundings!

A brand new pop-up dining experience is coming to Holt Castle in September, designed to give just 50 local foodies a one off chance to eat a three course 'legendary' meal in unique surroundings!

Based on previous successful al fresco pop-up dining events at Moel Fammau and Cilcain Forest, local foodie company Fodder In the Field have teamed up with the Big Hand Brewery and Wrexham Museums to stage a third pop-up evening at Holt Castle on 8th September!

The evening will offer diners a locally sourced three course meal, served up by Caroline Dawson and her Fodder in the Field team on top of the mound at Holt Castle.  Of course, the evening is weather dependant - but if it's a fine evening, the views, accompanied by the food, drink and live medieval music from the Minstrel band will be magical!

The team from the Big Hand Brewery will also be on hand with their bar and local ales - providing diners with a pint of local Big Hand ale and a bar.  

The evening has been supported by the tourism and Museum teams at Wrexham County Borough Council as it is designed to celebrate the Welsh Year of Legends and showcase one of Wrexham's great heritage assets.


Speaking about the venture, Caroline Dawson from Fodder in the Field said;

We're really excited to bring our third pop-up foodie evening to Wrexham and somewhere really unique with spectacular views such as Holt Castle.  The meat will be from traditional Welsh breeds and the meal will also feature handmade bread and locally grown veg.  We came up with the idea while chatting about the promotion of local produce,” said Caroline who works closely with producers in the Clywdian Range Food Trail.   She added;

“North Wales is home to some of the best food and drink products in the UK but the sector needs continuous promotion to raise its profile. We thought it would be a great idea to tie in the local food producers and brewers like the Big Hand who are based on Wrexham Industrial Estate with a full dining experience.”

Unique tourism experiences are a big part of what Wrexham Council's tourism team strive to do and Destination Manager Joe Bickerton added;

"We're becoming an increasingly attractive foodie destination each year here in Wrexham County and this is a great opportunity to showcase some of our best local food & drink producers in a unique setting!  Holt Castle presents a challenge in terms of the elements, however this night will be totally rustic and we advise ticket holders to come with an empty belly and a sense of adventure.  The menu looks fantastic and I'm sure it will be a memorable experience for everyone!"

Tickets are limited to just 50 and are likely to sell out fast.  They are on-sale for £25.00 per person (over 18 only) and available from Wrexham Museum on Regent Street or by calling 01978 297460 (max 6 per person).
