BANGOR ON DEE RACEDAY - FRIDAY 15th DECEMBER!

The last race of the season takes place at Bangor on Dee this Friday and racegoers are encouraged to get festive!

Festive Fun at the Horse Comes First Raceday on Friday 15 December

Friday 15 December is the last opportunity to come racing at Bangor-on-Dee in 2017 before the Christmas break. Get into the festive spirit early and tuck into mulled wine and mince pies whilst enjoying the action from a seven-race card. Gates open at the earlier time of 10.30am and the first race begins proceedings at 12pm.

Bangor-on-Dee will be taking part in the fourth national Horse Comes First raceday as one of the host racecourses and the day marks British Racing coming together through The Horse Comes First initiative. The objective is to raise awareness of the first-class care provided to horses across the racing industry both during and after their racing careers. Representatives will be about the course talking to racegoers about the fantastic work championed by the Horse Comes First.

Robin Mousey, representative for the Horse Comes First said:

“This is a perfect opportunity to engage even more people with the messages about the unparalleled levels of equine welfare across racing industry.”

Friday 15 December is also National Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children and the dress code has been relaxed for racegoers, who will be encouraged to sport a Christmas jumper and take part in a best dressed competition with a difference! Those in the most festive attire will have the chance to take home some fantastic prizes on the day including tickets to a raceday of their choosing in 2018.

The competition will take place between 10.30am and 2.45pm and to enter, racegoers must visit the festive team at the Christmas tree outside the Weighing Room to take part.

Bangor on Dee Racecourse staff will also be in the Christmas spirit, wearing Christmas jumpers designed to raise money for Racing Welfare. A limited number are still available to buy via the Racing Post online for anyone wanting to support another good cause.

Bangor on Dee Racecourse General Manager, Jeannie Chantler, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be supporting three fantastic initiatives and hope that the events of the day will raise awareness for the fabulous work undertaken by all three organisations. Volunteers from Save the Children will be hosting a bucket collection at the exit gates after the final race and we hope that racegoers will be able to dig deep and donate as they leave us for the final time in 2017.”

With just one week to go, those looking to attend are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance online at bangorondeeraces.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 01978 780 323. 2018 tickets, badges, hospitality and memberships are now on sale through the same channels.
