Wrexham Miners Project
The Wrexham Miners Project is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the mining heritage of North Wales. Its base is the Grade II listed Wrexham Miners Rescue Station, a unique building once used to train rescue teams who risked their lives during colliery emergencies.
Visitors can discover exhibitions that tell the powerful story of local miners and their families, including interpretation of the 1934 Gresford Disaster, one of Britain’s most significant mining tragedies. The project is not only about remembrance but also about creativity and community. It hosts regular arts sessions, exhibitions, and educational activities that inspire people of all ages.
At the heart of the site is The Rescue Café, a welcoming space for refreshments, conversation, and reflection, which has quickly become a favourite with locals and tourists. Supported by dedicated volunteers, the Wrexham Miners Project is a vibrant destination offering history, culture, and hospitality in equal measure.
